Effect of seeding rates for drilling planter on yield and agronomic characteristics of barley

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of different seeding amounts after the removal of rice straw and the application of rice straw cutted by the combine cutter before seeding on the growth and productivity of the barley. The plot of the application of rice straw was less in growth rate in terms of the number of seedling stand, the tillering number, and total dry weight than that of rice straw removal. This mainly influenced the number of spike and there was, therefore, 12 apprx 19% yield reduction of barley. On behalf of the application of rice straw there was more a vigorous growth of barley in the plot of drilling method on the plane than that of drilling method on the high ridge in which brought to be a yield increase of 4%. But there was not significant difference in the barley yield between different seeding amounts under the application of the rice straw. In the plots of seed drilling both on the plane and the high ridge under removal of rice straw the number of spike was great as the seeding amount increase while there were decrease in the grain number per spike and 1,000 grain weight. However, there was not related to the grain number per spike and 1,000 grain weight at the different seeding amounts under the plot of the application of rice straw. In the plot of rice straw removal the optimum amount of seeding was 120kg/ha at the harvest with combine in drilling method on the plane as well as on the high ridge.
