Effect of selection on digestibility and carcass composition in mink

Effect of selection on digestibility and carcass composition in mink

Archiv für Tierernahrung 45(2): 155-160

Over 5 generations, separate lines of mink were selected for litter size at 3 weeks old (F-line) and body weight in September (BS-line). An unselected line functioned as control. Nutrient digestibility was estimated in a balance trial with 4 male kits from each line in the last generation. Carcass composition was estimated in 4, 4th-generation F and BS males in September. Feed intake was higher in BS than F or controls (1687, 1532 and 1504 kJ/day) during the balance trial.
