Effect of selenium on the growth and nutrient metabolism of tea plants

Effect of selenium on the growth and nutrient metabolism of tea plants

China Tea 14(2): 28-30

Se solutions of 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400 mg/litre were sprayed onto tea bushes in the field, and seedlings were grown in hydroponic culture with Se at 0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0 and 5.0 mg/litre. While the Se content of leaves was increased by spraying bushes with Se solution, the yield was decreased by 15-35% and toxic symptoms appeared when the concentration was >200 mg/litre.
