Effect of self pollination on pollen fertility in lucerne (Medicago sativa L.)

Effect of self pollination on pollen fertility in lucerne (Medicago sativa L.)

Selekcija i Semenarstvo 1(1): 73-75

Eleven varieties were evaluated for pollen fertility after self pollination (up to the S2 generation). Selfing reduced both pollen fertility percentage and the number of fertile pollen grains in the field of vision of the microscope in most but not all varieties (OS Zdravka was one exception).
