Effect of semen diluents and seminal plasma on the preservation of refrigerated stallion semen

Effect of semen diluents and seminal plasma on the preservation of refrigerated stallion semen

Veterinaria Argentina 12(113): 172-178

20 fractionated and non-fractionated ejaculates from 7 stallions were diluted with a glucose-EDTA, skim milk or skim milk-glucose diluent. After storage at 4 degrees C for 72 h, the average sperm motility was 19.0, 24.5 and 37.3% respectively for semen diluted with the 3 diluents, and it was 23.1 and 30.6% respectively for semen with and without seminal plasma (both P<0.05).
