Effect of sexual condition and implantation with trenbolone acetate plus estradiol-17 beta on growth of Santa Gertrudis crossbred cattle

Gain was studied in 78 crossbred Santa Gertrudis bulls and steers reared on pasture for 148 days without or with an implant of anabolic steroids (trenbolone plus oestradiol-17 beta ) for 148 days. Data were studied by variance-covariance analysis using the least square method with sexual condition and implant as principal effects and initial weight as covariable. Daily and total gain were not affected by sexual condition. Gain was 7.07% greater in bulls than steers.
