Effect of shelling on seed quality in maize lines

The lines Mo17 and Os84-44, differing in grain structure and shape, were studied. Shelling increased the percentage of seed injury by 18.2-29.6% and reduced germination energy (by 3.6-18.6%) and germinability (by 1.6-12.2%) in both lines in both years of the study compared with drying (the standard).
