Effect of sire strain, feeding, age and sex on rabbit carcass

Effect of sire strain, feeding, age and sex on rabbit carcass

World Rabbit Science 3(1): 9-14

66 New Zealand White were inseminated with semen from White Giant, Heavy Grimaud Freres and Light Grimaud Freres After weaning, the progeny were fed (1) a high-energy diet (10.42 MJ digestible energy/kg) until slaughter, or (2) a low energy diet (9.85 MJ digestible energy/kg) until 55 days of age, and the high-energy diet thereafter. For progeny of the 3 strains of sire, daily gain averaged 38.9, 39.7 and 40.4 g respectively to 75 days of age, and 35.0, 32.8 and 40.4 g to 90 days.
