Effect of site on protein content and other quality characteristics of Phaseolus vulgaris L

Effect of site on protein content and other quality characteristics of Phaseolus vulgaris L

Agricultura Tecnica en Mexico 20(1): 73-83

Five P. vulgaris cultivars were grown at 6 sites on the semi-arid Mexican plateau at >1500 m alt. Seed protein content and seed weight varied significantly between sites, both being highest at the sites with highest soil moisture content. Protein content also varied between cultivars ranging from an average of 22.8% in Bayo Victoria to 27.0% in Flor de Mayo Bajio.
