Effect of sodium chloride on the lipid composition of leaves of rape (Brassica napus)

Effect of sodium chloride on the lipid composition of leaves of rape (Brassica napus)

Canadian Journal of Botany 73(4): 620-628

The effect of increasing NaCl concentrations up to 170 mM on the lipid composition of leaf membranes was studied on rape Drakkar grown in hydroponic culture for one month. At NaCl concentrations lower than 102 mM, polar glycerolipid biosynthesis was stimulated. NaCl concentrations higher than 102 mM reduced the contents of total lipids, monogalactosyldiacylglycerol, digalactosyldiacylglycerol, and phospholipids.
