Effect of sodium to calcium activity ratio and residual sodium carbonate in irrigation water on physico-chemical properties of the Haplustalfs and performance of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

In a pot trial, clay loam and sandy loam mixed hyperthermic Haplustalfs were irrigated with water having Na:Ca activity ratios (SCAR) of 7 or 10 and residual sodium carbonate contents (RSC) of 0, 2,5, 5.0, 7.5 or 10.0 meq/litre, with a constant electrolyte concentration of 3.0 dS/m. Wheat Lok-1 was irrigated when soil moisture fell to 50% of field capacity.
