In a field experiment in 1984-86 at Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, sugarcane COJ-64 and CO-1148 were irrigated or not irrigated, and kept weed free, unweeded or treated with 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5 kg atrazine/ha. Irrigation increased cane yields, particularly in 1985/86 (53.61 vs. 32.20 t/ha). Compared with the unweeded plots, treatment with atrazine increased cane yield. The best treatment was with 2.5 kg atrazine.
