Effect of soil salt concentration on the transport of salts to ground water in a layered soil - a laboratory study

Effect of soil salt concentration on the transport of salts to ground water in a layered soil - a laboratory study

International Agricultural Engineering Journal 4(1/2): 1-16

The effects of different salt concn on water movement and transport of salts through a layered soil packed in a long soil column, and on processes responsible for reclamation of soil, were studied. Nine PVC columns (20 cm diameter, 115 cm length) were filled with sandy loam soil to form seven layers of different bulk densities. Three salt concn (0, 3200 and 6400 ppm) were obtained in the soil columns by mixing sodium chloride and calcium chloride in the soil layers.
