The antitranspirants Cycocel Folicote, Velvet (a plastic emulsion) and 8-hydroxyquinoline were sprayed onto young Cucurbita pepo Nubaseed plants. Cycocel (1000 p.p.m.), Folicote (2% v/v) and Velvet (10% v/v) reduced water use by 6.1, 5.24 and 5.19%, respectively, compared with controls.
