Effect of some chemical and microbial insecticides on the lesser cotton leafworm, Spodoptera exigua (Hb.), and the associated predators

Studies were conducted in Assiut, Egypt in maize fields to determine the efficacy of 3 formulations of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki (Dipel, SAN 415 I and Thuricide HP), monocrotophos, fenvalerate, monocrotophos + Thuricide HP and fenvalerate + Thuricide HP to control infestations of Spodoptera exigua, and to determine their effect on predators of the noctuid. SAN 415 I and Dipel were the most effective insecticides whereas fenvalerate was the least effective.
