Effect of some flavonoids on IAA oxidase preparations from Ipomoea batatas roots

Activity of IAA oxidase isolated from sweet potato roots was inhibited by some flavonoids but activated by others, depending on their molecular structure. Compounds with only 1 hydroxyl group on the B ring increased enzyme activity, whereas those with 2 hydroxyl groups inhibited the enzyme. Isochlorogenic acid acted as a competitive inhibitor of IAA oxidase.
