Effect of some pesticides/weedicides on cathepsin B activity and lysosomal membrane

Effect of some pesticides/weedicides on cathepsin B activity and lysosomal membrane

Indian Journal of Biochemistry & Biophysics 30(3): 187-190

The inhibitory effects of endosulfan, methyl parathion, malathion, aldrin, benzene hexachloride (BHC) butachlor, anilofos and isoproturon on goat brain cathepsin B and their labilizing potency on the lysosomal membrane were quantitated in vitro. Endosulfan inhibited enzymatic activity by approx. 50% at 7 mM, followed by methyl parathion, aldrin, malathion and BHC.
