Effect of some soil properties on the iron distribution in sewage water irrigated soils

Effect of some soil properties on the iron distribution in sewage water irrigated soils

Madras Agricultural Journal 81(5): 272-273

The fate of iron in sewage waste-water irrigated soils was investigated in the Indian Punjab. Total Fe content of normally irrigated soils ranged from 1.4 to 3.2% in the 0-15 cm layer with a mean value of 2.03%. In soils receiving sewage waste water total Fe ranged from 2.2 to 4.1% with an average value of 2.78% which was 36.9% higher than in normal soils. An increase in the total and DTPA-Fe contents in the 0-15 cm soil layer was due to the application of sewage wastes.
