Effect of sources and levels of nitrogen on yield of mulberry

An investigation was made on irrigated mulberry Morus indica L. with different sources of nitrogen i.e. Urea, Urea Super Granule (USG), Neem cake blended urea (NCBU). Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), urea and calcium along with phosphorous and potassium and also urea alone at three levels of nitrogen i.e. 150, 300, 450 kg N/ha/ year. A perusal of two years leaf yield data reveals that nitrogen supplied through USG yielded maximum leaf (36,875 kg/ha/year). CAN ranked second (33,105 kg/ha/year). The treatments which received phosphorous and potassium irrespective of the source of nitrogen has produced higher yield (21%) over nitrogen application alone (26,875 kg/ ha/year). Nitrogen at 450 kg/ha/year recorded highest leaf yield of 36,985 kg/ha/year.
