Effect of sources of nitrogen and their method of application on growth and yield of deepwater rice under flooded condition

In a field trial at North Lakhimpur, Assam in 1990-91, rice PJNB 96-10 was given N as prilled urea, neem coated urea or urea supergranules. Prilled and neem coated urea were applied basally or split equally between basal application and panicle initiation, and other treatments included deep placement of urea and foliar application of 4% urea at maximum tillering or at tillering and at panicle initiation. Mean grain yield was 1.99 t/ha without applied N and 2.33-3.85 t with 30 kg N/ha.
