Effect of sowing and harvest date on the quality of root parsley and its storability

In 2-year trials with the root parsley (Petroselinum crispum subsp. tuberosum) cultivars Berlinska, Cukrowa and Lenka, the crop was sown in mid- and late Apr. and in mid-May, and it was harvested in Aug., Sep. and Oct. Roots harvested in late Oct. were used for storage trials. Irrespective of sowing date and cultivar, a delay in harvest increased root DM and sugar contents but decreased vitamin C content. Irrespective of cultivar, vitamin C content was highest in roots from the May sowings.
