Effect of sowing date, nitrogen and rhizobium inoculation on flowering and development of yield in chickpeas

Chickpeas Kabuli were sown on 3 July or 30 Sep. 1992 into a Templeton silt loam soil. N at 0, 15, 45 or 90 kg/ha and Rhizobium seed inoculation at 0 or 2 times the recommended rate were applied in a factorial design. Data were collected from plots which had received 0 and 45 kg N/ha and on those which had received 0 and twice the recommended rate of inoculant. Seed yield averaged 305 g/msuperscript 2. N did not increase seed yield, but it did significantly decrease mean seed weight.
