Effect of sowing dates and moisture regimes on pod yield of groundnut

Studies on the effect of sowing dates and moisture regimes on groundnut variety SB-XI revealed that crop sown on 4th February gave significantly more yield of dry pods (24.89 q ha-1) over earlier sowing dates during 1986. However, during 1987 the same date recorded the highest yield of dry pods (25.53 q ha-1) but it was at par with the sowing on 25th January. The mean yield of both the seasons indicated that sowing of groundnut on 4th Feb. was significantly better over earlier sowing. Irrigations scheduled at 75 mm CPE and 50% depletion of available soil moisture produced significantly higher number of gynophores, total pods, one and two seeded filled pods which contributed in giving significantly higher dry pod yields as compared to irrigations scheduled at 10 days interval and at critical growth stages of crop.
