Effect of sowing dates and varieties on yield and yield attributes of wheat under late sown condition

A field experiment was conducted on clay loam soil during Rabi seasons of 1984-85 and 1985-86 at Farm of C. S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur to find out effect of sowing dates and varieties on yield and yield attributes of wheat under late sown condition. It was observed that December 10 sown crop being at par with December 25 sowing, brought out significantly more grain and straw yield than January 10 sowing. The extent of loss in average yield in January 10 sowing was @ 6.5 q/ha over December 25. HUW 234 being at par with HW 213 and Sonalika gave the highest yield, compared with other varieties. The highest benefit was obtained from the crop was sown on December 10 while the lowest benefit was observed with January 10 sown crop. HUW 234 gave the highest net profit whereas the lowest profit was derived from K 8020.
