Effect of sowing dates and water requirement satisfaction index on the yield and yield attributes of rainy and post rainy season groundnut

Growth and yield performance of groundnut (SB-XI), sown with a fortnightly interval during rainy and post rainy seasons (1989-90), have been investigated. Crop sown on 4th July with requirement satisfaction index (WRSI) 78 in rainy season recorded highest dry pod yield (14.01 q ha-1) while the post rainy crop sown on 7th October with WRSI 92 recorded highest dry pod yield (18.89 q ha-1). Subsequent sowings in both the seasons indicated decreasing yield trends with delay in sowing. The post rainy crop required only 7 irrigations.
