Effect of sowing dates on development of Alternaria leaf blight of watermelon and fungicidal control

Field experiments were conducted at Wakawali, Maharashtra, India, during 1989-90 to evaluate the influence of sowing date on the incidence of A. cucumerina on watermelon Sugar Baby and to test the relative efficacy of 0.2% Dithane M-45 0.1% Bavistin 0.2% Difolatan 0.2% Dithane Z-78 and 0.2% Bordeaux mixture for its control on this crop. Results are tabulated which indicate that significantly lower incidence of A. cucumerina and greater yields followed sowing on 1 and 15 Nov.
