Effect of sowing dates, varieties and fertilizer levels on seed cotton yield in summer cotton

The effect of two dates of sowing and three levels of fertilizers in three cotton genotypes were studied during 1985 and 1986 summer season for seed cotton yield at cotton Research Station, Srivilliputtur. The SVPR 763 recorded higher boll number (37.3/plant), boll weight (36.3g/ten bolls) and seed cotton yield (26.18 q/ha). Among the various fertilizer levels 60:30:30 kg NPK/ha was found to be the economic level and February first week was the optimum sowing time for summer irrigated rice fallow cotton in southern districts of Tamil Nadu for realizing higher seed cotton yield.
