Effect of sowing method and plant density on growth, yield and disease incidence in mesta (Hibiscus cannabinus)

In field trials in the 1990-91 rainy seasons at Ambikapur, Madhya Pradesh, seed and fibre yields of H. cannabinus were not significantly affected by sowing method (line-sowing in 20 or 30 cm rows, or broadcasting). Yields increased with increasing sowing rate (8-20 kg seed/ha in 1990 and 12-24 kg/ha in 1991).
