In trials at 5 sites in Poland in 1988-90, Lupinus albus Hetman, Wat and Kalina were sown at 20, 35, 50, 65 or 80 seeds/msuperscript 2. The optimum plant density was 40-50/msuperscript 2 under average weather conditions and 60/msuperscript 2 when the temperature sum between emergence and flowering was high. Increasing plant density from 20 to 72 plants/msuperscript 2 reduced the number of pods and seeds/plant but did not affect the number of seeds/pod, 1000-seed weight or chemical composition.
