In a field experiment on a soil high in available N (638 kg/ha) during the winter season of 1986/87 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, cotton RH 665, RKR 4145 and MCU 9 were grown at spacings of 75 or 90 x 30 cm and given 40-120 kg N/ha. The narrow spacing gave higher seed cotton yield (1.59 vs. 1.45 t/ha).
