Effect of spacing and plant density on yield and quality of bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.)

In the kharif season of 1981-82, 42-day-old capsicum seedlings, California Wonder and Selection-16, were planted at 3 inter-row spacings (40, 50 or 60 cm) and 3 plant densities (40 000, 50 000 or 60 000 plants/ha). The 60-cm inter-row spacing resulted in the highest number of fruits/plant (7.24), and fruit yield (172.45 q/ha).
