Effect of split application of N, P and K on sorghum in Vertic Ustochrept of Madhya Pradesh

In a field experiment during the kharif season of 1984-85 at Indore, Madhya Pradesh with sorghum CSH-5, application of the recommended fertilizer 100 kg N as urea + 60 kg P2O5 as superphosphate + 40 kg K2O/ha as muriate of potash in 3 equal splits on 7th, 28th and 49th days after emergence or in 2 splits, 1/3 and 2/3 N, P and K on 7th and 49th days after emergence, respectively, gave higher grain yield than the recommended method of applying 1/3 N and full dose of P and K at the time of sowing + 2/3 N on 28th day after emergence.
