In small-plot trials in 1985-86 at Olesnice (460-490 m alt.) and Horice (670-820 m), Zea mays hybrids CE 185 S and CE 205 S were given 0-200 kg N/ha and in another trial in 1987-90 at the same sites, 0-180 kg N with the intermediate rates in 2 split doses and the highest rate in 2 or 3 doses. N was applied before sowing in most cases and the split applications were at the 6- to 8-leaf stage and at stem elongation-flowering.
