Seeds of B. decumbens Basilisk harvested in July 1988 at the optimum maturity stage were dried to ~10% moisture content and stored under refrigeration (5-10 degrees C and 75% RH) or ambient conditions (23 degrees -28 degrees C and 80-82% RH); seeds were either untreated or treated with 3% NaOH for 20 min or 40 min, with concentrated H2SO4 for 10 min. or lemma and palea were removed either immediately or after 3, 6, 9, 12, 16 or 20 months.
