Effect of storage time on chemical composition of hydrolysed sugarcane bagasse

With a view to using (steam-?) hydrolysed sugarcane bagasse as a forage for cattle, its chemical composition during storage in heaps was studied using a completely randomized design with 6 replications of 4 treatments (storage periods 0, 15, 30 and 45 days). Storage period had no consistent effect (P>0.05) on the contents of nitrogen-free extract, minerals and organic matter. Storage for 45 days increased dry matter (DM) and decreased ether extract (EE).
