Effect of substrate K levels on micro-nutrient uptake by leaves, shoots and roots of apple grafts

Effect of substrate K levels on micro-nutrient uptake by leaves, shoots and roots of apple grafts

Journal of Potassium Research 10(2): 167-172

Uniform grafts of Starking Delicious apple made on seedling rootstocks were grown for 90 days in nutrient solution at 0, 7.8, 15.6, 39.0, 54.6, 78.0, 93.6, 117, 156, 196 or 234 p.p.m. K. The plants were exposed to light for 16 h/day, at 25 +or- 4 degrees C, 2600 +or- 200 lux and 70 +or- 5% RH. The uptake of Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu was influenced by substrate K concentrations. Uptake by roots was greater than that by shoots and leaves.
