Effect of substrate concentration, temperature and moisture regime on the kinetics of nitrification in some soils of Punjab

Effect of substrate concentration, temperature and moisture regime on the kinetics of nitrification in some soils of Punjab

Proceedings of the International Symposium on Nutrient Management for Sustained Productivity: volume 2: 18-20

The effects of NH4+ concn (50 to 800 mg/kg) and temperature (8, 20 and 35 degrees C) on nitrification were studied in three soils at different water contents. Nitrification during 10 days incubation at field capacity at 35 degrees C was represented by Michaelis-Menton kinetics up to 400 mg/kg N applications in two soils, and by zero-order kinetics in the third soil, which had higher nitrifying potential and higher nitrification rates.
