Effect of the scab inoculum and the susceptible parent on resistance to apple scab (Venturia inaequalis) in the progenies of crosses to the scab resistant cv 'Florina'

Effect of the scab inoculum and the susceptible parent on resistance to apple scab (Venturia inaequalis) in the progenies of crosses to the scab resistant cv 'Florina'

Agronomie 13(7): 631-636

Seedlings of 8 apple hybrids, produced by crossing scab resistant Florina (carrying the Vf gene) as the male parent with cultivars of varying susceptibility, were inoculated in the greenhouse with separate suspensions of V. inaequalis (4.5 x 105 conidia/ml) originating from Angers, France and Wadenswil. Thirteen days after inoculation, disease reaction was assessed using a 1-4 scale, where 0 = no visible reaction and 4 = highly infected.
