Effects of Litsea cubeba Pres oils on the control of termite Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki

, : Effects of Litsea cubeba Pres oils on the control of termite Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki. Bulletin of Taiwan Forestry Research Institute New Series 10(1): 59-63

Four kinds of volatile oils from the leaves, flowers, fruit and bark of Litsea cubeba Pres were obtained by steam distillation. The effectiveness of the oils on controlling termites was (Coptotemes formosanus Shiraki) investigated. The results indicate that oil preparations. At application levels under 1.5% of the oil, termite activities are not inhibited. The oils of bark and leave are found to be most effective while the oil of fruit is next and the oil of flower the least effective. Ease of collection and handling for the leaves may render them to be viable sources of termite repellent.
