Effects of soil-applied PP333 on fruit quality and storage characteristics of Fuji apple

In a study on the effects of paclobutrazol (as PP333), 15% wettable paclobutrazol at 20 g/tree was applied in autumn to the soil under the canopy of 6-year-old trees of Fuji. With treated trees, the N, P, K, Ca, Mg, B and Mn contents of the fruit peel, flesh and core were 5.8-57.8% higher, but the N content of the core was 6% lower, compared with controls. The contents of amino acids such as proline, methionine and alanine in fruits from treated trees were also higher.
