Evaluation of toxicity of some insecticides against the larvae of tobacco caterpillar, Spodoptera litura Fab

Ten insecticides were tested as sprays against newly-hatched larvae of the noctuid Spodoptera litura in the laboratory. On the basis of their EC50s, chlorfenvinphos, dichlorvos, dimethoate, endosulfan, fenitrothion, malathion, monocrotophos, phosalone and quinalphos were 1.09, 2.28, 2.31, 32.52, 8.76, 3.87, 2.09, 1.61 and 2.24 times as toxic, resp., as fenthion.
