Forage livestock status in temperate wet zone of Himachal Pradesh - a survey

A survey was carried out of 51 farmers in the Rohroo tehsil of Shimla district, a potential apple growing region, to estimate the average number of animals, their composition, cropping patterns and fodder production per household, to estimate the fodder availability and annual fodder deficit/surplus, and to estimate the carrying capacity of the land. Full details of the questionnaire used with results are given.
