Genetic analysis of yield traits in two-rowed barley

Information on genetic variance is derived from data on 5 yield components in 7 two-rowed barley varieties and their F1 and F2 hybrids. Only harvest index appeared to be conditioned by an additive x additive epistatic effect. Grain yield per plant and grains per spike were controlled by a dominance effect. Estimation of gene effects suggested that progenies from crosses involving Riso 1508 would produce plants with a greater number of spikes.
