Genetic improvement of Amblyseius finlandicus (Acari: Phytoseiidae): laboratory selection for resistance to azinphosmethyl and dimethoate

Amblyseius finlandicus was selected in the laboratory for resistance to azinphos-methyl and dimethoate by subjecting adult females to increasing concn of dried residues of dimethoate and azinphos-methyl on detached leaves of Phaseolus vulgaris. The first 8 selections were done with dimethoate. Slide-dip bioassays indicated that selection with dimethoate increased dimethoate resistance 1.8-fold and azinphos-methyl resistance 2.6-fold.
