Genetic merit of first lactation milk yield of water buffaloes using animal models

Using a BLUP animal model, the 1st-lactation milk yields of 165 buffaloes, recorded in 1942-75, were used to determine the Predicted Transmitting Ability (PTA) of the cows and the parent average (average of the PTAs of a cow's parents).
