Herbicidal control of weed in transplanted rice (Oryza sativa) in rainfed lowland condition

In a field trial at Ghaghragat, Uttar Pradesh in the 1989-90 rainy seasons, rice Madhukar was manually weeded, or different rates of pretilachlor, NC 311 oxadiazon, anilophos butachlor or 2,4-D were applied. Weed species present were mainly monocotyledons. All weed control treatments decreased weed numbers and DW, although the decreases with 2,4-D were only small. The best weed control was given by 0.4 kg oxadiazon/ha, followed by 2 hand weedings.
