In field trials in Lages, Santa Catarina in 1990-91, potatoes Baraka were planted in mid-Oct. following liming to increase soil pH from 4.7 to 5.5 or 6.0 and were given 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 t/ha of 5:20:10 NPK or the officially recommended rate (ROLAS) for the area of 60 kg N, 250 kg P2O5 and 90 kg K2O/ha. Haulms of crops grown for seed potatoes were artificially desiccated 65 d after planting, while haulms of ware potatoes were left to die naturally.
