Influence of different crude protein and energy levels on growth and carcass traits of Simmental bulls. 2. Carcass and meat quality and effects on requirement of crude protein

Influence of different crude protein and energy levels on growth and carcass traits of Simmental bulls. 2. Carcass and meat quality and effects on requirement of crude protein

Zuchtungskunde 67(1): 62-74

From 212 to 623 kg liveweight, 144 Simmental bulls were given diets of maize silage and concentrate, differing in 4 levels of CP (mean daily CP intake during finishing 750, 950, 1120 and 1320 g, I-IV) and in 3 levels of energy supply (maize silage restricted-fed plus concentrate 1.8, maize silage ad libitum plus concentrate 2.3, and maize silage with ground maize ad libitum plus concentrate 3.5 kg/day, A-C). All bulls were slaughtered at about the same liveweight (LW).
