Influence of strain, diet and sex on cut-up-parts meat yield, drip and cook losses of broiler meat

Journal of Research APAU 21(3): 147-150

216 broilers of 3 strains were fed high-energy, standard or low-energy diets ad lib., and were slaughtered at 56 or 73 days of age. Carcass composition was significantly affected by strain, sex and age of bird, females and birds slaughtered at 73 days producing a higher percentage of breast and a lower percentage of drumsticks than males and birds slaughtered at 56 days.
