Insect pests of tree roots in plantations being created in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power station

Insect pests of tree roots in plantations being created in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power station

Lesnoe Khozyaistvo ( 1): 33-34

In the Chernobyl exclusion (evacuation) zone, former agricultural land is being afforested, and 'red forests' are being decontaminated by tree clearance, spreading of non-radioactive sand over the ground surface and then replanting. Data are given on the populations of insect pests (Scarabaeidae, Elateridae, Curculionidae, etc.) of tree roots in the soil in various types of conditions within the exclusion zone.
